Best Guesthouses in Satty and Basshi villages.
Guesthouses are our default stay option in Satty and Basshi. Since travelers often ask what to expect, here’s a quick look at the cozy, local places we work with.
Let us explain what we mean by term “guesthouse”: it is either a house of a local family and they rent out several rooms for guests or a separate building with rooms this family built specially for hosting guests. The rooms are very simple, inside you most probably find a bed, a table, a chair, sometimes a small wardrobe. Bathroom in simple guesthouses can be shared, in more bigger guesthouses bathrooms are private and located inside of each room.
The best part of staying in guesthouses is the food. Hosts cook generous homemade meals — rich, delicious, and served with warmth. Expect full tables with bread, jams, salads, hearty mains, and sweets. Unlike hotels with overpriced, tiny portions, guesthouse meals are included and feel like a family feast.
Wifi is usually provided in most of the houses however the existence of internet depends on electricity, so if electricity outage happens, it also turns off internet completely.
If you would like to upgrade your accommodation to hotel rooms, please let us know and we will provide you an updated price and book hotel for you.

Accommodation in Satty village, Kolsay and Kaindy lakes
Juldyz and Elmira guesthouse and yurts
We work with family of Juldyz and her relative Elmira since 2017 and saw impressive growth of their accommodation options in terms of quality, size and comfort. The moving force behind all that development is local lady Juldyz, whose energy and hard work from day to day made all the dreams come true, we won’t be surprised if they open a hotel in future. It all started from small rooms inside of their home with village toilet outside and basic sauna instead of shower, then small separate building in their backyard with several rooms was built with one shared toilet and shower inside of that building, then bigger building appeared in neighboring backyard with comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, managed by Elmira, and at the same time they set up several yurts next to their home. Isn’t it an impressive motivational growth? We love to support local families and especially women in their pursuit to build sustainable future for their children and family members. So our base accommodation we usually offer on our two days trips to Charyn Canyon, Kolsai and Kaindy lakes is Juldyz and Elmira’s guesthouse or yurts, on your wish.
Rooms in their guesthouse, as you can see on photos, are simple but comfortable: spacious, with soft bed, bed table and, of course, private bathroom. Hosts invested money recently into rooms’ renovation and for the moment it’s one of the nicest looking rooms we found in Satty village.
Talking about beautiful yurts we need to warn you that bathroom is located in a separate building.

Yurts at Alban guesthouse
Alban guesthouse named after hosts’ clan name is famous and loved by experienced drivers and guides for comfortable rooms and most important – hot fresh baursaks (Kazakh bread). The host Zhanar fries it right before the meal and you will never forget how tasty it is.
This guest house has more budget rooms with shared facilities and also rooms with private bathrooms, and most importantly, quite rare yurts with its own bathroom.
Accommodation in Basshi village, Altyn Emel National Park
Guesthouse 'Aigay Kum', Basshi village, Altyn Emel National Park
‘Aigay Kum’ (‘Singing Sand’) is the biggest guesthouse in Basshi village, main village in Altyn Emel National Park. For years it provides smooth quality in terms of clean rooms with private bathrooms and standardized meals, you exactly know what will be waiting for you inside of your room and on your plate. This guesthouse has good number of rooms, so we can book rooms for big groups and everyone will be equally accommodated.
The face of this guesthouse is local woman Saltanat, every day for many years she ensures that rooms are ready for check ins and meals are cooked. We admire her energy and hard work, also she employs other local women for housekeeping and cooking positions. Every year she reinvests her profits into building new block of rooms and her guesthouse becomes bigger and bigger. We like to be part of her growth, especially if our guests are happy to stay in her rooms.
ardak's guesthouse, Basshi village, Altyn Emel National Park
A lot of drivers and guides praise Ardak’s guesthouse in Basshi village for the food she cooks: hearty portions of homemade meals won their hearts from the first time. Her rooms are also nice and clean, they are not as standardized as in Aigay Kum and will be more suitable for families with children.
