Turgen Gorge Day Tour

We will pick you up right from your hotel, you’ll be met by our friendly English-speaking guide and super-experienced driver. Let’s set off from Almaty and follow old Kuldja tract, where hundreds of years ago the trade caravans passed through. On the way to the Turgen gorge, we will talk about the country, culture, people, and the history of Kazakhstan.

During our day tour, you will observe mysterious coniferous forests, lakes with the dark history, fast mountains rivers, waterfalls and beautiful alpine flowers.

Our first stop will be at the altitude of 1,756 meters above sea level, next to the postcard-perfect Lake Issyk, located in the valley with the same name. The gorge is evocative and visually striking. The peaceful appearance of the lake hides dark history: in 1963 huge mudflow took place here and destroyed the lake and the whole area around it. However it led to the unbelievable historical discoveries!

As a final touch to the beautiful day we included a visit to the famous and accessible Bear waterfall, located in a deep rocky niche, on the southern slope of the Karash Ridge. The height of the waterfall is 29 meters (95 ft). The waterfall got its name because as locals say a family of bears lives here.  

The adventure comes to an end today as we drive you back to your hotel in time for relaxation time.
