Covid-19 situation update in Kazakhstan

The situation about COVID-19 is changing every day. We follow recent news and hope that the information below will help you make an informed decision on your travel plans to discover Kazakhstan.

Due to the ongoing pandemic and local travel restrictions we had to cancel all our trips in 2020. We must put the well-being of our guests first and follow the best recommendations from local authorities.

The current situation in Kazakhstan: information from official sources says that the daily increase in infection has been reduced from 4% to 0.5%. The number of recovered has reached 76%. The average reproductive rate has decreased to 0.78, bed occupancy is 26%.

It was a tough year for all of us and it is time to start planning your unforgettable visit to Kazakhstan in 2021. To help you book with confidence, we prepared an exceptional offer for the booking with minimal risks to you.

Let us recall that from March 16 2020 the visa-free regime of entry, stay and departure from Kazakhstan has been suspended for foreign citizens until 1 May 2021 in accordance with the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan (see full information here).

For the period of the quarantine measures, entry into Kazakhstan without restrictions is allowed only by plane and citizens of only those countries with which Kazakhstan has resumed regular flights:

  • Russia
  • Ukraine
  • Belarus
  • Uzbekistan
  • Kyrgyzstan
  • Germany
  • the Netherlands
  • the United Arab Emirates,
  • South Korea,
  • Egypt,
  • Turkey

At the same time, the requirement that a foreigner must leave the country of his citizenship is excluded.

Please firstly contact the Embassy of Kazakhstan in your country before deciding to visit Kazakhstan.

All passengers, including citizens of Kazakhstan, arriving on international flights to Kazakhstan, undergo thermometry, questioning and are required to provide a certificate of passing the COVID-19 test by the PCR method, from the date of the result of which no more than 3 days have passed at the time of crossing the state border. At the same time, children under 5 years old are exempted from PCR analysis certificates. The certificate is valid both on paper and electronic media (enough on a smartphone).

In the absence of a certificate, foreign citizens will be denied boarding at the point of departure. Those arriving with a negative result for COVID-19 are explained about the possible symptoms of the disease with the receipt of a corresponding receipt. Arriving people who test positive for COVID-19 are hospitalized in an infectious diseases hospital.

Arriving persons with a body temperature within the normal range, who presented a certificate, are explained about the possible symptoms of COVID-19 with the receipt of an appropriate receipt, they continue to follow their destination. Arriving persons with an elevated body temperature, regardless of the availability of a certificate, are subject to isolation in an infectious diseases hospital.

We agree that all that is complicated and sometimes hard to understand but that is how the crazy reality looks right now. We hope for better times to come soon! 😉

What was happening on the ground in Kazakhstan from March to August 2020?

On Monday March 16 2020, the President of Kazakhstan announced the emergency state which means closing all tourist and heritage sites in the Republic of Kazakhstan (as well as schools, creches, colleges and universities) until April 15th.

During the state of emergency, a restriction will be introduced on entry and exit through the state border for the citizens of Kazakhstan and foreign states.

As for the date of 18th of July 2020, the situation unfortunately became even more complicated compared to the spring 2020: numbers of infected people are growing, and for now we don’t see any improvements. Our country is going through tough times. Currently we are back into second quarantine. We would advise to postpone your trip to Kazakhstan at least until September if the situation will get better.
